  • Construction observation and material selection

The Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit program offers a 20% Federal income tax credit for the rehabilitation of income-producing buildings that are determined by the Secretary of the Interior, through the National Park Service, to be certified historic structures.  Certified historic structures are individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places or contributing buildings in National Register historic districts.  The program is administered jointly by the State Historic Preservation Offices and the National Park Service.  Both agencies review the proposed rehabilitation work to establish its compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.  The Internal Revenue Service defines qualified rehabilitation expenditures for which the tax credit may be taken.
